Emily and Ross were referred to be my friend John, who is also a photographer. I was really thrilled to learn about Emily and Ross’s wedding because it was one of my first St. Petersburg weddings as a Tampa wedding photographer. The day started at the hip Hollander Hotel where Emily and her bridesmaids got ready. The lobby at the Hollander hotel is filled with a variety of decorations that create a modern aesthetic – matching the current vibe of St. Petersburg. I then headed with Ross and his groomsmen down to Vinoy Park, and the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts. They were a tad rowdy, but it made for authentic images, and hey who hasn’t dealt with some drunk groomsmen as a wedding photographer? We then headed to the Library at Mirror Lake Park where Emily and Ross had their emotional wedding ceremony in front of a giant Banyan tree. After the ceremony, we headed to the library where we were treated to a classic Florida gulf coast sunset. The rest of the festivities continued with a lively reception at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club. The classic 1920’s architecture of the Shuffleboard Club made for a captivating background. As the night progressed we hit all of the traditional cues like cake cutting and dancing, but also had some time to photograph Emily and Ross on the shuffleboard court. All in all I could not have asked for a nicer couple, or more refreshing backdrop. I look forward to photographing many more St. Petersburg weddings as a Tampa wedding photographer.
