Over the course of 5 trips to Tromsø, Norway I have experienced many spectacular displays of Northern Lights. I have met lovely people on each trip, both locals and tourist who have come with me to learn how to photograph the stunning Aurora Borealis. During the daytime – I always appreciated the beautiful vistas of Tromsø as a charming little city on a fjord, and the neighboring island of Kvaløya. While I have much traveling left to do in my lifetime, I truly think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Thanks to the encouragement of my partner Tara, I decided that I should put people in front of my camera in Tromsø. However I had not found a way to do so. Walking up to people on the street isn’t my forte, so I turned to the almighty FACEBOOK. In a local swap group, I became the annoying guy who asked if anyone wanted family/engagement photos. Thankfully Janice The was eager to have some family photos done. We met up for a coffee, hammered out the details, and what you see here is the result of a beautiful mid-day drive through Kvaløya, stopping on the way to the small island of Sommarøy. This location in particular piqued my interest years ago on a past trip. I just knew it would be perfect for a photo shoot. I hope you enjoy these images! Needless to say this was my favorite family session that I’ve ever done 200 miles north into the Arctic Circle.
