Greek philosopher Heraclitus is known for saying, “Change is the only constant in life.”

It’s also the only constant for anyone planning a wedding. You make your plans (and backups), trust your vendor team, and hope for the best. 

When Julie and JJ came to me, they were looking for a photographer they could trust to capture the authenticity of their wedding day. They wanted someone to preserve the celebration’s natural colors, emotions, and story. 

After looking at my work and chatting on a Zoom call, they felt at ease putting their trust in my team and me, knowing we would help them plan the photography for their wedding day.   

But, of course, the best-laid plans…

Julie and JJ’s wedding may have had a couple of “oh no!” situations, but that didn’t stop us from getting the beautiful in-the-moment photos the couple wanted on their day.

One of the first challenges was not knowing if it would rain. As I photographed the wedding party, the clouds loomed dark in the background, and the wind picked up as if to taunt us.

Stormy weather is never a part of anyone’s dream day, but my team and I always tell clients that, no matter what the day brings, we’ve got another plan. We’re able to pivot and keep the day flowing. And we guarantee your photos will look stunning, whatever the weather. 

“Managing the day of timeline and what we wanted to be included that day was super easy with Tiffany and Mike,” Julie says. “And it brought me ease and comfort for the day knowing JJ, and I would have great photographers who know exactly what they’re doing.”

It did happen to rain on Julie and JJ – right as they said, “I do!” But judging from their faces, it could have been snowing, and these two wouldn’t have cared. 

Another pivot that turned into a positive happened during the getting-ready moments. The bride and bridesmaids were supposed to get ready at their hotel, but the reservation for the conference room they wanted got mixed up, and they ended up with an area that wasn’t large enough. 

So, the ladies used the bridal suite at Running Deer instead, which was a great experience! There was plenty of space, and it was more convenient for everyone to be at the venue ahead of time. 

There was one last tiny detail that didn’t go to plan. “My dress did not stay bustled at a certain point, but Mike actually ended up fixing it for me!” I may officially be your wedding photographer, but I’m also your friend and dress bustler!

Even amid rain and little obstacles, Julie and JJ had a picture-perfect celebration. “The ceremony was our favorite part. Getting married in the wooded area of Running Deer Golf Club was so awesome and felt almost like a fairy tale,” Julie says.  

Julie and JJ’s advice for couples: “Look for a photographer who can work with any type of weather. Look for someone who includes an engagement photo session in the package and has a second shooter. And look for someone who is easy to work with; standing in front of a camera for a long period of time is not easy, but having the right people to work with makes all the difference!”
