If you’ve been reading our blog posts lately, you already know how important it is that you feel comfortable around your photographer. If you missed the previous posts, here’s the TLDR version: Your photographer will be capturing you in fairly personal, intimate moments with the people you love most. And it’s pretty hard to let your guard down and be yourself with a perfect stranger. So, if you’re into natural-looking pictures where you look and feel your best, spend some time getting to know us…
And because we get so much energy from hearing about your relationship and the story that brought you here, we want to do the same.
In fact, moments after you reach out, we’ll likely dive into a bunch of questions to get to know you better. So, you might want to spend a little time thinking about the following questions before we jump on that first call (Zoom, Facetime, etc.).
This question is a biggie, and it always throws people off for a minute. But it’s so important because it drives so many decisions related to photography and to your wedding day.
Seriously, think about showing your grandkids your photographs. As you slowly flip through the pages, what is it that you want them to see? What is it that you want to remember? Is it the beautiful details that you spent months planning? Is it the venue that you spent hours searching for? Is it your friends getting wild on the dance floor? Or is it the emotional glances exchanged between your own grandparents?
Okay, here’s an easier one – but you’d be surprised how many people don’t know the answer to this. This question helps us to understand how much time you have in your venue and begins to give us a full picture of how your wedding day will play out.
You’ve likely heard other photographers say “How much coverage do you need?” – and you’re probably thinking “I don’t have a clue! What is coverage?”. That’s because you’re not a photographer! It’s our job to figure out just what you need.
So you just determine when your day will start and end, and we’ll figure out how many hours and photographers are needed to make sure it’s all covered.
If you reach out (and we hope you do!), you’re probably already loving some of our work. But what is it that most resonates with you?
Is it the way we play with light? Do you love the shots taken out in nature? Are you a fan of daytime or nighttime photography? Pay attention not to just what you like – but what you don’t like! Our feelings won’t be hurt, I promise.
Understanding what images speak to you (or don’t) will help us determine what direction to take your pictures. So take some time to get familiar with our work.
Okay, we started with a tough one, and we’re ending with another doozie. Take a moment and picture how you want to feel on your wedding day.
Do you want to be “in the moment”, fully present? Do you want to feel calm and relaxed – just going with the flow? Or do you want to maximize every single minute?
There is no one, “right” answer. But it is helpful for you to recognize how structured or loose you want your day to be and to be intentional with the emotions that you want to bring to the day.
Hopefully, by seeing these questions, you see how deeply we care about what’s important to you. Ultimately, we want you to get a fully customized experience that you feel like you’re a part of.
When you work with us, you’ll see that you really are the basis for everything we do.
